What ages do you teach?

I teach students from 5 years old and upwards.

Do you teach grades?

Yes, I have a 100% pass record with both Rockschool and Trinity syllabus's with 98% of my students having achieved either a merit or a distinction. Grades are not mandatory and can be taught upon request. Please click the following links to better understand Rockschool and Trinity gradings.

I have never played an instrument before, do I need any experience?

No, absolute beginners are welcome and all levels of ability are catered for.

Do I need experience reading music?

No, all the skills you will need to develop in order to become an effective reader are covered in lessons.

How do I pay?

I accept cash, bank transfer or cheque.

What equipment do I need to bring to a lesson?

No equipment is required, there are always two drum kits setup at all times and sticks can be provided for the session.

Do I need my own Drum Kit right away?

No, a drum kit is not required immediately and there is a lot that can be achieved in the early stages of learning to play with minimal outlay. Longterm it is important to have a means to practice properly and to this end I can help you with the selection of a kit to meet your requirements (either acoustic or electronic depending on noise restrictions) - please feel free to drop me a line if you need some guidance.

Can I choose the songs that I want to learn?

Yes, however it is important to recognise that many songs can be trickier to play than they sound and from experience it can take a while to build the skill set to deliver an authentic performance. I am happy to build a plan to enable you to take the steps to make this happen and for you to study the music that you love.

Can I buy lessons as a gift?

Yes, I provide bespoke printable vouchers that can include a personalised message for the recipient so that they can arrange the lesson with me at their convenience.

How many lessons should I take?

I offer weekly, bi-weekly and monthly sessions - it is completely up to you and if you would prefer to have ad-hoc lessons as and when you require them then this is not a problem. If you would like more frequent lessons this can also be catered for.

When do you teach?

I teach Mondays - Fridays from 9:00am to 9:30pm - weekend lessons can also be discussed.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require strictly 48 hours notice for a lesson cancellation. If less than this notice is given then I would need to retain your deposit to cover the session. If 48 hours notice is given there is no penalty.

Do you do home visits?

Yes I do, but you must have your own equipment. These lessons are charged at £60.00 per hour and are popular with students who want help setting up new equipment or need help tuning and maintaining their instruments.

Do you teach in schools?

Yes, I provide peripatetic lessons in schools and have experience working as a teaching assistant supporting students with GCSE, A-Level and BTEC music qualifications. I currently teach peripatetic drum lessons at Stantonbury Campus, Ashbrook Primary School, Heronshaw Primary School, Heronsgate Middle School, Oakgrove Primary School and Oakgrove Secondary School.
